In the Season 38 finale, one castaway will take home the $1 million prize and earn the title of Sole Survivor. One castaway's game will unravel, and someone will get a chance to return to the game, when castaways "living on the edge" go head to head.

It must have occurred to the producers that, with this edge of extinction idea, someone could get voted out early on, then come in at the end and win it, making for a really disappointing season. Which, in fact, happened. They did the best they could with what they had, I guess, but that pretty much sucked. I hope edge of extinction goes the way of the medallion of power.

Yeah. The producers did the viewers dirty, basically. Devens played the best game, but within the final 3, hands down Gavin deserved the win ten times over. He was just not a salesman and could not sell his game. Poor guy. I feel like both Devens and Gavin were robbed Chris did play a flawless few days and played the best with the hand he was dealt with but its like he was given aces and kings and then asked to do his best. Super unfair. Really not Chris' fault but in no way did he deserve a mil for being voted out third, having 2 chances to get back in the game, having an island to soul search and make friends with jury members and having an immunity idol reserved for him in 1 of only 3 tribals he has to go to. I wish Gavin could have said all that. Also i was waiting for Gavin to say that his biggest move was orchestrating the Eric blindside with Julia but having the finesse to not only survive afterwards but be back in majority while his partner in crime got voted out. Gavin lost a million bec he played against a salesman. Lost respect for everyone that voted for Chris, including David. Lastly, love Devens. LOVE HIM. AND excited for next season. Sorry Casey! Lol

Agree with all that, Acfan. I didnt feel too good about any of the final three, but you bring up some good points about Gavin's game, much, much better than he was able to do in fact. But they weren't even playing the same game; Chris had so many different advantages that weren't available to people who hadn't spent three weeks away.
I don't really blame the people from Extinction who voted for Chris. They had to accept the idea that whoever re-entered the game had a perfect right to win, since in all of their imaginations, that person was going to be them. So, I don't think it was a huge psychological hurdle for them. Also, 8 out of the 9 people who had been at Extinction longest voted for Chris which speaks to the bonds that could be formed in a non-competitive, non-strategic pressure cooker type atmosphere. I suppose its human nature for you to vote for someone you know well. Reem had never even met Gavin or Julie! By contrast, 3 out the last 4 to be voted out voted for Gavin. I blame the structure of the game. Badly thought out and not satisfying at all.
I loved Devens too. He was a real showman. I hate that people around the interwebs are so down on him because all he did was find idols and win immensities and was on the wrong side of alliances. You can't really blame someone for not getting in a good alliance if NO ONE will work with you. Like Chris, he played with the cards he had. But he had to play the majority of the game.
As for next season, I can only hope the coaches just stay coaches and aren't allowed to join the game :S I could see them letting Rob in at the final 5 with an Immunity idol in his pocket and a full belly.

~*I honestly think Chris did a good job of earning a win at the end. He did the best he could with the cards he was dealt. As we all know I was not a Devens fan so I just didn't want him to win. One of the biggest issues for me about Devens was that he always seemed to be playing up to the cameras and I just don't like that. I get why people like him. He just kind of reminded me of the cop Tony who won. The fun of Survivor is that everyone has their own favorites.
All in all I thought this was an entertaining season. It can't beat last season but that would be a hard season to beat. As it ended up being one of the best seasons.

I didn't see the point of the E of E; I hope it's never brought back.
Jeff Probst, if you are reading this, please get rid of the 3 person finale. It is pointless when the 3rd person gets 0 votes.
Thumbs down to the 30 minute reunion.
Next season, if Sandra and/or Rob ditches the coach's hat and enters the game as a player, I'm forever done with Survivor.

During the fire making challenge when Wardog (ugh) said "Chris has got this" I turned to Synn and said "Rick one this because Wardog has never been right about a fucking thing" and then Rick's fire flared up and I couldn't believe it. Don't mind Chris winning because I felt like Julie, Victoria and Gavin did practically nothing all season.
